STAR LAKE – Geraldine "Gerry" Pearl LaTray, age 78, lost her battle with cancer on January 17, 2017 under the care of Hospice and surrounded by her loving family and friends. Calling hours will be at French Family Funeral Home, Star Lake, on Saturday, January 21, 2017 from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. Her funeral service will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home followed by a luncheon at the St. Hubert's Fellowship Hall. Burial in the St. Hubert's Cemetery will be in the spring. Geraldine was born on May 3, 1938 in Canton to the late Leward Dafoe and Mary Collette. She attended schools in Pyrites and Russell. Gerry enjoyed watching the birds, riding her bicycle, was an avid recycler, and was a car enthusiast. Her survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Mike Johnson; two sons, Richard Northrup and Paul Ward; and a step-son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Julie LaTray. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Eric, Jason and Lauree, Mary, Nia, Trey, Vera, several great-grandchildren including Sonny and Quinn; and nieces and nephews. Gerry is predeceased by her husband, William E. LaTray and her sister, Helen Doyle. Donations in memory of Gerry may be made to Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley, 6805 US HWY 11, Potsdam NY 13676.
