GOUVERNEUR – Dominick Simione, III, age 46, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on March 4, 2018 at the Gouverneur Hospital. Calling hours will be held at French Funeral Home in Gouverneur on Thursday, March 8, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with a funeral service following at 1:00 p.m. officiated by Rev. Beth Quick and military honors provided by the United States Army and the Gouverneur VFW. Dominick was born on January 27, 1972 in Glens Falls, NY to Dominick Simione, Jr. and the late Shelly (Seymoure) Simione. He graduated from the Glens Falls High School in 1991 and married Melissa Beck on February 14, 1996 in Glens Falls. Mr. Simione was a career military man. He served in the United States Army for 23 years, having retired in 2014. Dominick and Melissa moved to Gouverneur in 2006, living there for the past 11 years. During that time, Dominick served 18 months in Iraq and two 1-year tours in Afghanistan. Dominick was decorated with the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with 3 Stars, the Iraq Campaign Medal with 2 Stars, 2 Meritorious Service Medals, 2 Army Commendation Medals, 4 Army Achievement Medals, 2 Meritorious Unit Commendations, the Army Good Conduct Medal, 2 National Defense Service Medals, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, 3 Non Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbons, Army Service Ribbon, 5 Overseas Service Ribbons, the NATO Medal, Basic Aviation Badge, Air Assault Badge, Driver and Mechanic Badge. In his free time, Dominick served as a Cub Scout Pack Master for several years and was a member of the Gouverneur VFW Post 6338, where he has served as the Post Commander for the past 3 ½ years. Dominick is survived by his father, Dominick Simione, Jr.; his wife, Melissa Simione; four sons, Nikolaus, Justin, Colten, and Gunner Simione; and his brother and sister-in-law, Derrick and Mimi Simione. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, a niece and a nephew. He is predeceased by his mother, Shelly Simione.
