Johnny I am so sad to hear of your passing. You were a great friend. I am so glad that our children and many of my cousin's children grew up together and have a bond. We've both seen each other's children grow and become young adults. I am proud of your's and Betsy's children as I am my own. I enjoyed our time working together at the St James School's fish fry's and whenever I could volunteer. You were a staple at St. James as many people have been in the past. I'm sure there are so many people that have paired you and St. James together. You were a decent man, Johnny. You certainly have left a footprint in my life and I am sure in so many others. St. James won't be the same without you. You may be gone my friend but you certainly can never be forgotten.
Betsy, Kraymer, Johni, Caleb and Jaycee I'm so sorry for your loss. My heart breaks for you all. I love you.

Please be assured of my thoughts, prayers and sincere condolences to John’s family, friends and coworkers. John was one of the most dedicated and hardworking people I’ve known. His love and care for St. James Church and school went WELL beyond the employee-employer relationship and was inspiring. He will be greatly missed. Rest easy from your labors, John. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he Rest In Peace. Amen

I’m his cousin, Kirk. When I was around 14, me and some of my pals would stop by his house and play guitar with him on weekends. We’d mostly play Metallica songs. I remember we were all trying to learn the closing riff to Metallica’s Fade to Black one night.
That guitar he had was one of the coolest guitars I had ever seen. This was sometime between 1993-1996. I can’t remember the brand, but the body was really unique for the time.
All the guys there were super cool and supportive. It was a good community of players and folks just listening to us play, and they were super cool to let a couple of kids drop in and play with them.
He was a good guy, and all of my memories of him are great. Years later I heard his son had played guitar with one of my Creative Writing students who had went to high school in Gouverneur. Glad to see the family tradition continues!
