Obituary of Rocky Hartle

GOUVERNEUR - Rocky Hartle, age 61, of Gouverneur, passed away on September 8, 2013 at the St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse. Calling hours will be at French Funeral Home, Gouverneur on Thursday, September 12th from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. His funeral service will be on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. Gregory Bailey. Burial will follow in the East Riverside Cemetery. Rocky was born on October 31, 1951 in Gouverneur to the late Gerald and Genevieve (McPherson) Hartle. He graduated from Gouverneur High School and worked for North Country Rent to Own for many years until the store closed. Rocky enjoyed bowling, playing darts and horseshoes, and watching his grandsons' wrestling matches. His survivors include two daughters, Nicole Hartle and Bobbie Jo Mannigan and her husband, Gerald; a son, Ricky Stowell and his companion, Melinda McIntyre; his nephew he was a father figure to, Christopher Shampine; two brothers, Ronald and Delores Hartle, Jerrilee and Tammy Hartle; and four sisters, his twin, Roxy and Sterling Trimm, Loretta Barkley, Ruby and Henry Besaw, and Jerrilyn and Leonard Jesmer. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. Rocky is predeceased by his soul mate and best friend of 40 years, Linda Stowell who passed away on March 8, 2012; four brothers, Richard, Gerald, Percy, and Dick Hartle; and a sister, Shirley Simmons.
