Obituary of Isabelle M. Hance

FOWLER - Isabelle M. Hance, age 94, of Fowler, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at her home. Calling hours will be at French Funeral Home, Gouverneur on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. Her funeral service will immediately at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the New St. James Cemetery. Isabelle was born on September 26, 1919 in Worth, NY to the late Eugene and Winifred (Priest) Howard. She attended school in Worth and Bellville. Isabelle married Clifford A. Hance on September 13, 1934 in Antwerp. Mr. Hance passed away on April 13, 1989. Mrs. Hance worked as a Postal Clerk in Balmat for several years before working for the International Talc Mine in Fowler as a Laboratory Technician. Isabelle then became the Fowler Town Clerk in 1977 and retired in 1987. Family was very important to Isabelle. She loved to go see musicals and shows as a group and always had a good time. She was a member of the St. James Catholic Church, was the Fowler Town Historian for many years, and served as a former Girl Scout Leader and Cub Scout Den Mother. Her survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Joan and Richard Perrin of Antwerp, Kathleen Brady of Valrico, FL; four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her two sons, Michael and Phillip Hance; brothers, Raymond, Fred and Morris Howard; and her sister, Julia David. Donations in memory of Isabelle may be made to the Gouverneur Volunteer Rescue Squad, the St. James Catholic Church, or Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley.
