SANDY CREEK - Gladys P. Manchester, age 97, of Watertown and formerly of Sandy Creek passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2013.
Calling hours will be at French Funeral Home, Edwards on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. immediately followed by her funeral service at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Thomas Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Edwards.
Gladys was born on August 18, 1916 in Oswegatchie, the daughter of the late Sidney and Anna (Cobb) Taylor. She attended school in South Edwards.
Gladys married Roy Paro in 1934. In the marriage ended in divorce. She married Kermit Manchester in 1952. Mr. Manchester passed away in 1983.
Gladys worked for the Bellville Chicken Farm and was a bartender at the former Hitchman's Bar in Fine. She enjoyed knitting, making quilts, and was a member of the VFW Ladies' Auxiliary in Lacona, NY.
Her survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Elizabeth Paro of Sandy Creek; a brother, Robert Taylor of Utica; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and ten great great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her sister, Ruth Burnett; a brother, Clifford Taylor; and a grandson, Kenneth Paro, Jr.
