DEKALB JCT.- Robert E. Law, Sr., age 70, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at his home under the loving care of his family and Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley.
Robert's calling hours will be on Wednesday, October 9th from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. at French Funeral Home, Gouverneur. His funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 10th at the funeral home with Pastor Reginald Curtis officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Hermon Cemetery. Robert was born on July 16, 1943 in Clare, NY to the late Richard E. and Beulah I. (Colton) Law Sr. He attended Hermon-DeKalb Central School. Robert entered into the United States Army in 1969 and served in Vietnam until his honorable discharge in 1972. He married Wanda L. Young on September 9, 1995 at their home in DeKalb Jct. Two previous marriages ended in divorce.
He and his wife were the owners and operators of B&W Collectables in DeKalb Jct. for 15 years. He had previously worked at Richville Furniture, The Town of Hermon Highway Department; he worked construction at Ft. Drum and worked at ACCO in Ogdensburg. Robert was a lifetime member of the Amvets Post 11 in DeKalb where he was commander and was a former member of the Hermon Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed softball, golf, hunting, fishing, karaoke, basket making (he had made baskets for every grandchild one Easter). He was a big NY Giants and Yankees fan. He also enjoyed going to garage sales, attending auctions and spending time with his family.
Robert is survived by his wife, Wanda; two sons and their wives, Robert E. and Vickey Law of Dothan, AL and Christopher J. and Leslie Law of Austin, TX; two daughters and their husbands, Rhonda J. and Tim Filkins of Elbridge, NY and Christa L. and Anthony Tehonica of DeKalb Jct.; a step son and his wife, Matthew C. and Jessica Kentfield of Fairfax, VA; two step daughters and their husbands, Jacqueline A. and Brian Law of Dewitt, NY and Jennifer A. and Allen Plaisted of Lockport, NY; five brothers, Richard and Dianna Law of Manlius, NY, Gene and Rama Law of Jacksonville, FL, Roger Law and his companion, Sally Charlson of Colton, Randy and Sherry Law of Richville, NY and Stuart and Bonnie Law of Hermon; two sisters, Linda Law of Dothan, AL and Connie Lawson and her companion, Art Dibble of Heuvelton, NY; 16 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephew, cousins and his loving canine companion, Bentley.
Robert is predeceased by a daughter, Brandi L. (Law) Moore and a grandson, Kristopher Moore.
