Obituary of Laura J. Lenahan

GOUVERNEUR- Laura J. Lenahan, age 96, of Gouverneur, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at her home. Laura was born on January 16, 1927 in Richville, NY to the late James and Emeline (Johnson) Reynolds. She graduated from Richville school in 1944 and from the Adirondack School of Commerce in Malone. Laura married James L. Lenahan on November 16, 1947. James passed away on December 13, 2007. She worked for a few years for the Nelson, Battersby & Pangle Law Firm. Laura joined her husband, James, in operating a dairy farm on the Rock Island Road until his poor health forced retirement. During the following years, they enjoyed meeting new friends while camping and maintaining their farm and home. Keeping in touch with family and friends was a big part of her later years. Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Roger Cook; a grandson, Daniel Cook; a sister, Doris Putman; a brother and sister-in-law, Ford and Sarah Reynolds and several nieces and nephews. Laura is predeceased by her parents; a brother, David Reynolds and a sister, Louise Schwellensattl. In keeping with Laura's wishes, services will be private for the family.
