Obituary of Buddy L. Rathbun

GOUVERNEUR – Robin "Buddy" L. Rathbun, age 62, of Gouverneur, passed away on December 28, 2023 at home. There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, May 25, 2024 starting at 11:00 a.m. at the family's home at 213 Quarry Road, Gouverneur. It will be the final annual "Bud and Beth Fest" to truly celebrate Bud's life. Arrangements are with French Funeral Home in Gouverneur. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com. Buddy was born on May 19, 1961 in Gouverneur to Edith Elizabeth (Halliday) Rathbun and the late Charles Fletcher Rathbun. He attended school in Edwards and married Elizabeth "Beth" Miller on June 1, 1991. Buddy was a Master Carpenter and owned and operated R&R Renovations in Gouverneur. He could build anything, including the house they live in on Quarry Road built with the help of his sons. Buddy was all about his family and friends. He was a home body who loved both music and silence. He enjoyed his motorcycles and was hoping to get his 1984 Chevy truck remodeled. He was an avid collector of swords and other items. Buddy was adored by his grandchildren who he loved. He also loved his dog and cats. His survivors include his mother, Edith Cooper, his wife, Elizabeth "Beth" Rathbun, three children, Rob Rathbun and his fiancé, Melinda Abbott, Travis Rathbun and his wife, Holly, and Jessica Prashaw; six grandchildren, Khloe, Dason, Brayden, Kinslee, Trevor, and Joey, and his siblings, Pam (Kevin) Jackson, Charles "Chuck" (Kathy) Rathbun, Troy (Kelly) Rathbun, and Fred Rathbun. Donations in memory of Buddy may be made to his family to cover his final expenses in care of Elizabeth Rathbun, 213 Quarry Road, Gouverneur NY 13642.
