NEWTON FALLS – Robert "Bob" E. Provost, age 88, of Newton Falls, passed away on February 21, 2024 at Upstate Medical University Hospital in Syracuse.
There will be a graveside service in the Cranberry Lake Cemetery on Friday, May 24, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements are with French Family Funeral Home in Star Lake. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.
Bob was born on January 10, 1936 in Newton Falls to the late Lawrence and Arlene (Folsom) Provost. He attended school in Newton Falls and worked for the Newton Falls Paper Mill for 46 years before retiring as a tow motor operator.
A marriage to Joan Woods ended in divorce. He later married Marion I. (Waters) Mitchell on April 4, 1970. Marion passed away on January 24, 2020. Bob enjoyed playing Bingo on Wednesday nights and cards on Friday nights. He loved to hunt, fish and trap, and was a lifetime member of the Newton-Falls Rod and Gun Club and was a member of the Newton Falls Fire Department for over 50 years.
He is survived by his children, Barbara (LeRoy) Willard and Dale (Kathy) Provost, his step daughter-in-law, Sonya Mitchell, and siblings, Helen Kimball, Portia LaRose, Debbie (Steve) Major, and Richard Provost. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Jennifer, Anthony, Julie, and Robert, and 7 great-grandchildren, MyKenzie, Logan, Mallory, Mason, Faith, Bryce, Saige, Azlynn, and Trypp.
Bob is predeceased by his wife, Marion, his step-son, Scott Mitchell, and siblings, Carl Provost and Dorothy LaRock.
