EDWARDS – Lorna L. Sykes, age 83, of Edwards, passed away on March 27, 2024 at Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
Her funeral service will be held at French Funeral Home in Edwards on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.
Lorna was born on May 8, 1940 in Harrisville to the late Howard and Victoria (Bango) Luther. She graduated from Harrisville Central School in 1958. Lorna worked at the grocery store in Harrisville before her marriage and later worked as a personal care provider for Med-Link out of Potsdam for 7 years, a job she loved. She married Robert "Bob" Sykes on June 17, 1988.
Lorna was an involved member of the South Edwards United Methodist Church where she served as Treasurer, was a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed bowling, doing puzzles, playing games, and loved to read. She also looked forward to the annual Bango family reunions.
Her survivors include her husband, Robert Sykes, her children, Catherine Langevin of Black River, Bruce and Cammy Langevin, Jr. of Oswegatchie, and Julie and David Northrup of Edwards and Florida, her three step-children, Duane Sykes, Debra Davis, and Jeffrey Sykes, and a sister, Joyce Waugh of Shaker Heights, OH. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Lorna is predeceased by a sister, Norma Ripley.
