Obituary of Alice A. Charter

GOUVERNEUR – Alice A. Charter, age 91, of Gouverneur, passed away on April 29, 2024 at Carthage Area Hospital. Alice was born on May 23, 1932 in Norfolk, NY to the late Hiram and Lucille (Carr) Gladden. She graduated from Norfolk High School in 1949. She married Lyndon C. Charter in 1955, the marriage ended in divorce in 1970. Alice was a housekeeper at E.J. Noble Hospital from 1980 until her retirement in 1996. Before that she took care of children and the elderly. She has been a member of the Gouverneur Senior Citizens since 1990. She enjoys reading, traveling and watching television. Alice is survived by a daughter, Donna Parker and her companion, Steve Thomas of Fowler; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Rick and Patti Charter of Norfolk, NY and Kevin Charter of Pennsylvania. She is also survived by five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. She is predeceased by a brother, Hiram Gladden Jr., who passed away in 2001; a sister, Jean Dye, who passed away in 1998 and a grandson, Christopher Parker, who passed away in 2022. There will be a graveside service on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Raymondville Cemetery in Raymondville, NY with Rev. Ben Lalka officiating.
