Obituary of Robert A. McIntosh

GOUVERNEUR- Robert A. McIntosh, age 83, of Gouverneur, NY passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024 at his home, under the loving care of his family and Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley. There will be calling hours for Robert on Friday, May 24, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at French Funeral Home, Gouverneur. His funeral service will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com. Robert was born on January 26, 1941 in Gouverneur to the late Milbourne and Eleanor (Link) McIntosh. He attended Gouverneur Central School and then entered into the United States Airforce in 1958 and served until his honorable discharge in 1961. Robert married Esther Young on October 28, 1961 at the Gouverneur Methodist Parsonage with Rev. Stanley Brown officiating. Robert worked at Groveton Paper Mill, then St. Joe Mineral Corp, before owning and operating S & M Roofing. He was a former member of the Gouverneur Elks Lodge. Robert enjoyed hunting, trapping, woodworking, playing card games and board games and going to the casino. He and his wife Esther enjoyed traveling, going on several cruises and traveling around different states. Surviving is his wife, Esther; two sons, Dale McIntosh and David McIntosh and his companion Sharon Girard; two daughters and their husbands, Laurie and Kerry Brown and Wendy and Matthew Drake; a brother, Douglas McIntosh; a sister, Jean McIntosh; eight grandchildren and their spouses, James and Kate McIntosh, Lance and Colleen Brown, Nicole and Brady Dullea, Katie and Ricky Lee, Megan and Jacob Nodine, Malory Drake, Jade McIntosh and Ayden Drake, 12 great grandchildren, Blaine, Korleen, Alexis, Amelia, Aurora, Emmett, Adelina, Wren, Grieson, Cormac, Beckett and Everson and several nieces and nephews. Robert is predeceased by his parents; a grandson, Allen Brown; a brother, William McIntosh and two sisters, Barbara Morgan and Sharon Harris.
