Obituary of Jennifer L. Hay

GOUVERNEUR – Jennifer Lynn Hay, age 48, of Gouverneur, passed away on September 11, 2024 at Carthage Area Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Services will be held at the Gouverneur First Presbyterian Church on Saturday, September 21, 2024. Visitation from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Followed by a memorial service at 12:00 p.m. A private burial will be held at the Riverside Cemetery, Gouverneur. Jennifer was born on October 5, 1975 at the RRH Gouverneur Hospital to Cheryl (Swift) Hay and the late Scott Hay. She graduated from Gouverneur Central School in 1993 and worked for Jones and Doldo Agency in Star Lake and Kemper Insurance in Syracuse. Jennifer also worked as an LPN at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center followed by working as the Assistant School Nurse for the Gouverneur Central School District. Jennifer enjoyed going for long walks around town with her daughter, Madelynne. She had a deep passion to help those less fortunate and offered a caring smile with an abundance of love to all who knew her. Jennifer is survived by her daughter, Madelynne A. Hay-Spano who is the daughter of the late Steven F. Spano, her mother, Cheryl Hay, sister and brother-in-law, Julie and Brian Scheider, her step-mother, Wendy Hay, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Jennifer is predeceased by her father, Scott Hay.
