FOWLER – Stanley W. Putnam, also known as "Stan the Man" or "Stinger" back in NH days, age 68, of Fowler, GRADUATED into Heaven on September 12, 2024 while finishing his life-long dream trip to see the giant redwoods and sequoias with his wife, Dee, on their motorcycles. His funeral service will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. on his farmland in his field on the Farm to Market Road in Fowler, near the family home located at 1099 California Road. Arrangements are with French Funeral Home in Gouverneur. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com. Stan was born on November 12, 1955 in Lawrence, MA to the late Stillman "Stumpy" T. and Charlotte "Chuckie" I. (Clark) Putnam. He graduated from Salem High School in 1973 and continued with a lifetime of education, earning many certificates in the field of computer science. He was a builder, mechanic, electrician, plumber, welder, logger, and sawyer. He was more than a Jack of all trades, he was a real-life MacGyver, and he volunteered his help to everyone who needed it! He married Dee (Diane) Dalphond on June 30, 1984 on their property in Chester, NH. Stan worked for Digital Equipment Corporation for 18 years, working his way up to the position of field service technician, before working for Pinkerton Academy's Tech Department where he was a key player in creating a network to connect the entire campus. In 1999 he bought their dairy farm in Fowler and within 5 years had achieved organic certification through NOFA, an achievement he and his family were proud of. In 2013 he sold his herd and retired from active farming to work "only" 40 hours a week at Fort Drum in Housing Maintenance. He worked there until 2019 when he officially retired. The farm has been leased out to Gary Bango and Sandra Thibault since 2016. They have run a successful organic, grass-fed dairy farm called Color Me Red Farm on the property. Stan loved to share his knowledge and experience with them as well as volunteer "tractor time" during hay season. He was very proud of their dedicated work ethic! Stan was a member of Fowler Baptist Church where he has served on the Board of Trustees, the Board of Deacons, and the Pastoral Relations Committee. He cheerfully sang in the choir and he belonged to the Men's Tool Time Ministry. Stan loved being outdoors and enjoyed fishing, camping, canoeing, logging trees, and milling lumber. He loved his tractors, restoring many of them over the years. He also loved riding motorcycles. Since he was young, he owned dirt bikes, motorcycles, and dune buggies and even raced in a few enduro competitions. He is survived by his wife, Dee Putnam, four children and their spouses, Heidi & Gary Chapman, Danielle & Michael Saxe, Noah & Mysti Putnam, and Jeriah & Aurora Putnam, three siblings and their spouses, Catherine & Michael Kopacz, Roger & Margaret Putnam, and Marjorie & Richard Olson, ten grandchildren, 13 nieces and nephews, and many friends. Donations in Stan's memory may be made to the AWANA Ministry C/o Fowler Baptist Church, 8 Balmat-Fowler Road, Gouverneur NY 13642, an upstarting ministry for children, because Stan wants everyone to know how much God loves us!
