Obituary of Thomas C. Watson

STAR LAKE- Thomas C. Watson, age 66, of Star Lake, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Clifton-Fine Hospital. Calling hours for Tom will be on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at French Family Funeral Home in Star Lake. His funeral service with military honors will immediately follow at 5:00 p.m. with Deacon Philip Giardino officiating. Tom was born on February 12, 1947 in the Town of Clifton to the late Donald C. and Nina B. (Cole) Watson. He attended Clifton-Fine Central School and then in 1964 he entered into the United States Navy and served until he was honorably discharged in 1967. He married Karen McBroom on September 30, 1967 at St. Hubert's Catholic Church in Star Lake. Tom worked for the Newton Falls Paper Mill from 1968 until they closed in 2000. After the paper mill closed, Tom worked for the Town of Clifton in the Black Fly Program for several years until he retired. He was a member of the Mervin Eno Post 1539 American Legion and the Pine Pond Hunting Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, going to camp and just being outdoors. Tom is survived by his wife, Karen; two sons and their wives, Benjamin and Connie Watson of LaGrange, TX and Jeremy and Tina Watson of Amherst, NY; a brother Max W. Watson and his companion Anne Hynes of Star Lake; a sister and her husband, Gail and Richard Snider of Munnsville; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
