NEWTON FALLS - Carl L. "Larry" Provost, Jr., age 58, of Newton Falls, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown.
Calling hours for Larry will be on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at French Family Funeral Home in Star Lake. His funeral service will follow on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Hubert's Catholic Church with Fr. Stephen Rocker officiating. Condolences may be made online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.
Larry was born on November 11, 1955 in Star Lake, NY to the late Carl L. and Delima (Greener) Provost, Sr. He attended Clifton-Fine Central School and then entered into the United States Army in 1974 and served until he was honorably discharged in 1976. Larry married Barbara Brough on March 5, 1977 in Harrisville.
He worked at Todd's Lumber Supply for eight years. He previously worked at Ft. Drum as a heavy equipment mechanic, at the Newton Falls Paper Mill and at the Wanakena Ranger School. He was a member of the National Riffle Association. Larry loved woodworking, hunting, trapping, fishing and painting cars.
Larry is survived by his wife, Barbara; a son, John Provost and his fianc Danielle Payne of Newton Falls; three daughters, Kimberly and Donald Branch of Star Lake, April and Ronald Ames of Newton Falls and Heather Provost and her fianc Timothy O'Connor of Newton Falls; a brother, Jeffrey Provost of Newton Falls; a sister, Lorrie Antwine of Fine; and 13 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.
