Obituary of Gary A. Byrns

GOUVERNEUR - Gary A. Byrns, age 56, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, October 2, 2012. There will be a calling hour at French Funeral Home, Gouverneur on Saturday, October 6, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. His funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Zack Bristol officiating. Burial will be in the Spragueville Cemetery. Condolences may be made online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com. Gary was born on October 19, 1955 in Gouverneur to the late Carlton and Lillian (Gardner) Byrns. He graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1973 and from Canton A.T.C. with his Associate degree in Agriculture. Gary was a dairy farmer his whole life; working the family's Evergreen Grove Farm on the Byrns Road. He loved to farm and to teach 4-H members the farming life. He was a supporter of the F.F.A.; had great interest in breeding cows and had shown animals at the St. Lawrence County Fair for years. Gary will always be remembered as a practical joker with a sense of humor that stuck out. His personality made everyone either smile, laugh, or blush. As a youth, he was an excellent wrestler and football player. His survivors include his brothers, Robert Byrns of Gouverneur, James Byrns of Watertown; his sister, Donna Audycki of Sacramento, CA; and his nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents; a brother, David Byrns; and his aunts and uncles. Donations in memory of Gary may go to the Gouverneur F.F.A., 133 E.
