Obituary of Joy A. Tiernan

OSWEGATCHIE - Joy A. Tiernan, age 45, of Oswegatchie, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at the Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse. Calling hours for Joy will be held at French Family Funeral Home, Star Lake, on Saturday, June 14th from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. Immediately following calling hours there will be a Celebration of Joy's life held at the Twin Lakes Restaurant. Joy was born in Poughkeepsie on July 14, 1968 to Cheryl Gilmore and the late Michael Esposito Sr. Joy and her fianc, Kevin Poore, owned and operated the Teddy Bear Kennels in Lisbon before moving to Oswegatchie 13 years ago. Joy had also worked in housekeeping for the United Helpers Nursing Home in Ogdensburg and for the St. Lawrence County S.P.C.A. Joy loved her dogs and cats and treated them like royalty. She was very outgoing and enjoyed camping and boating. Joy had a good sense of humor and was a very strong willed person. Her survivors include her mother and her husband, Cheryl and Kenneth Beatty of Athens; her fianc, Kevin Poore of Oswegatchie; sisters, Sherry and Glenn Mastmann of Athens, Kimberly Beatty of Michigan; Laura Esposito of Middletown, Noel Esposito and her husband Jessee of Colorado; and her brother, Michael Esposito. She is also survived by her parents-in-law, Kenneth and Charlene Poore of Lisbon; her brother-in-law, Kenny Lee and Jolene Poore of Oklahoma; and several nieces and nephews. Joy is predeceased by her father, Michael Esposito, Sr. and her sister, Michelle Esposito. Donations in memory of Joy may be made to the St. Lawrence County S.P.C.A., P.O.
