Obituary of Kathleen A. Cassidy

EDWARDS/GOUVERNEUR - Kathleen A. Cassidy, age 54, of Gouverneur and formerly of Edwards, passed away on August 11, 2014 at the Roswell Park Cancer Institute of Buffalo. Calling hours will be at French Funeral Home, EDWARDS on Friday, August 15th from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Her funeral mass will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edwards with Father Stephen Rocker officiating. Kathleen was born on May 22, 1960 in Gouverneur to James F. McFerran and the late Cynthia M. (Barker) McFerran. She graduated from the Edwards High School in 1978 and from the CVPH School of Radiologic Technology in Plattsburgh. Kathleen worked for 28 years at St Peter's Hospital in Albany; first as an X-ray technician and then as an angio-cardiogram technician. Upon moving to Gouverneur, Kathleen worked as a per diem X-ray technician for E.J. Noble Hospital and Canton-Potsdam Hospital as well as working as a pharmacy technician for Kinney's in Gouverneur. She married Jeffrey Cassidy on November 8, 2008 at the Edwards Opera House with J.P. Sandy Gotham officiating followed by their church wedding on August 15, 2009 held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Kathleen loved children, reading, and gardening. She enjoyed flowers, traveling, and was very religious and loved her church. When she lived in Albany she found enjoyment in riding horses and took riding lessons for 13 years. Her survivors include her husband, Jeffrey Cassidy of Gouverneur; her father, James McFerran of Edwards; her daughter, Alexis Cassidy and her fianc, Aric McIntosh of Charlotte, NC; her son, Kyle Cassidy of Gouverneur; a grandson, Sebastian McIntosh; two brothers, Robert and Kathy McFerran of Moriah Center, Paul McFerran of Rocky Hill, CT; her mother-in-law, Marjorie Cassidy and her family; and many nieces and nephews. Kathleen is predeceased by her mother, Cynthia McFerran and a brother, Thomas McFerran.
