Obituary of Joyce A. Fuller

FOWLER - Joyce A. Fuller, age 76, of Fowler passed away on August 28, 2014 at the Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg. Calling hours will be at French Funeral Home, Gouverneur on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. with a VFW Ladies Auxiliary service at 8:30 p.m. Her funeral service will be on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. James Warrington. Burial will be in the Hailesboro Cemetery. Joyce was born on November 25, 1937 in Fullerville to the late Harold Lacey, Sr. and Lucille (Shampine) Lacey. She attended schools in Spragueville, Antwerp and Gouverneur. Mrs. Fuller operated Fuller's General Store from 1987 until 1990. She was the manager for Bonfare Markets in Gouverneur and Philadelphia, becoming the road supervisor of the stores in the area. Joyce married Orvis M. Fuller on January 12, 1958. She loved to cook, listen to older country and western music and enjoyed her gardens and all flowers. Joyce loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and to travel. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary #6338. Joyce will be remembered by all as always having a smile on her face. Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Orvis Fuller, Sr.; her son and his wife, Orvis Jr. and Olivia of Balmat, her daughter and her husband, Debra and John Walsh of Balmat; her brother and his wife, Harold Lacey, Jr. and Vija of Liverpool; and her sister and her husband, Claire and Harold Richardson of Richville. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren with one on the way; and several nieces and nephews. Joyce is predeceased by her parents; a daughter, Dixie Conklin; 6 brothers; 2 sisters; and 3 grandchildren. Donations in memory of Joyce may be made to the VFW Post #6338 Ladies Auxiliary or to the Gouverneur Business Women's Breast Cancer Fund.
