Roger was so much more than an employer. He was a friend. From the first July 4th party at camp, to the birth of our first child to the last child graduating college Roger and Vi were there. There were laughs, clam bakes, Christmas parties, Sugaring, and so many other memories.
It will never be quite the same. Roger we miss you already and our thoughts and prayers are with all your family.
Love,
Tom and Kathy

a kind and gentle man....always there for those in need. Incredibly generous and honest to a fault, I knew him when I was a young teenager - he was a good father to all his children I am lucky to have known & interacted with him for a time...

I am very sorry. I miss you, Mr. Finley. He hired me to help him before I had my job. Mr and Mrs Finley were very nice to me. We had camps next to each other on Sixberry Lake. We have very good memories of you.

Roger was a great friend with a wild sense of humor. He and I were great friends. He got me in all kinds of trouble! Like the time he got me arrested by Conservation dept. for hunting frogs out 0f season, or the time he signed me up for the NRA, or the time he wrote to all the Sunday televangelists asking them to pray for the him because he was involved in a very big business deal and if it came off as expected he would make a very large contribution to their cause, signing it Robert Belge, with my address. There are others but I'm sure you get the idea!
I loved Roger dearly, I'll mis him very much. He was a very generous man, always ready to help any one in need. God speed Roger.
Love Bob

Deeply saddened to learn of death of Roger Finley. He was the finest professional roofer I ever knew. As director of operations for Massena Schools I frequently called on Roger for his expertise and advice. He completed several major projects for us always with outstanding results. I was always pleased to recommend his firm to colleagues and other public and private institutions searching for a reputable roofing company. Over the years I got to know him quite well and always enjoyed his sense of humor and fellowship. My deepest condolences to his entire family. Dick Johnston, Knoxville, Tennessee.

My heart goes out to the children of Uncle Roger. I remember all the family picnic's we shared and all the praise you use to get for the salads you made. The fun we had spending the night at yours and Aunt Vi's house with all the kids..

Roger you were a great person and i feel lucky to have known you. I remember when I was young our families Television had stopped working . My mom was having a hard time being a single mom taking care of two crazy kids and working full time. You stepped in and bought our family a new Television. I know of other times you have helped out local families during their hard times. You were the type of person who always seemed willing to help when you could. You took such great care of your employees as well. I know my mom enjoyed her years working at Gouverneur Roofing. If the world had more people like you it would be a much happier place to live. You will be missed. Thank you so much for everything you have done.
