Obituary of Ruth E. McIntosh

GOUVERNEUR – Ruth E. McIntosh, formerly of Gouverneur, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at the Clifton-Fine Hospital. Calling hours will be held at French Funeral Home, Edwards, on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Her funeral service will follow on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Fullerville Cemetery. Condolences may be made online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com. Ruth was born on June 14, 1920 in Massena to the late Frank and Ruby (Austin) Youngs. After her parents passed away she was raised by her grandparents. Ruth was the widow of Loren Richards and Ivan McIntosh. She was a homemaker who loved fishing, hunting, playing cards, gambling, reading and gardening. She loved spending time with her family and was affectionately called "Granny" by many. She is survived by her daughter, Joanne Yerdon of Massena; two sons, Loren Richards of Louisiana, Ivan McIntosh of Arkansas; a brother, Lewis Youngs of Indiana; and a sister, Katherine Wagner of Edwards. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, her husbands, a son, George Richards, a brother, Bernard Youngs, two sisters, Mary Hurd and Edith, and a granddaughter, Barbara Lynn Yerdon.
