OSWEGATCHIE- James E. Marsh, age 86, of Oswegatchie, passed away on Saturday, February 07, 2015 at Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
Calling hours for James, will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at French Family Funeral Home, Star Lake. His funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 11th at the funeral home with Rev. Beth Benham officiating. Burial will be at a later date at the Woodland Cemetery in Fine, NY. James E. Marsh was born on September 4, 1928 in Fine, NY, the son of Nelson and Zelpha (Webb) Marsh. He attended school in Irish Hill and Scott's Bridge, Oswegatchie.
He married Marian E. Durham on February 12, 1950 in the Degrasse Free Methodist Church by the Rev. Emile Mangus. The couple has lived on the Crackerbox Road in Oswegatchie since 1955, having previously lived in Russell.
James worked for J&L Steel for 33 years, starting out as a truck driver and retiring as a mechanic in 1980. Jim was an avid hunter and fisherman and was an honorary member of Long Pond Hunting Club. He also loved spending time with his family.
His survivors include his wife of 65 years, Marian of Oswegatchie, three sons James L. - Oswegatchie, Roger E. and Alice Donney- Star Lake, and Kevin E.- Ogdensburg, four daughters and three sons-in-law; Carol A. and Wayne Hubbard- S.C., Deborah J. and Bruce Finley- Plattsburg, Sheila M. Finley and Chuck Strack- Star Lake, and Rose M. and Mark Rowand- Lowville, a brother, William Marsh- Oswegatchie, a sister; Lillian Perion- Syracuse, 18 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
James is predeceased by four brothers; George, Joseph, Charles and Kenneth Marsh, and four sisters; Nora Matejcik, Ethel Miller, Pearl Phillips and Florence "Rena" Cyrus.
