Obituary of Alvin N. Matice

Type Obit Here GOUVERNEUR- Alvin N. Matice, age 63, of Gouverneur, passed away on Thursday, April 09, 2015 at Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown. Alvin N. Matice was born on November 3, 1951, in Gouverneur, NY to the late Webb and Fern (Fields) Matice. He graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1971. Alvin worked as a packer man at Gouverneur Talc for 20 years from 1979 until 1999. He had previously worked at St. Lawrence County Highway Department from 1971-1972 and then at Zinc Corporation from 1972-79. He was a former member of the Edwards Masonic Lodge and Lions Club and also the Edwards Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing, water skiing and ice skating. Alvin is survived by a son, Eric S. Matice of Theresa; three grandsons, Danny, Dylan and Jarrett; two brothers, Carl of Canton and Ivan of Gouverneur; three sisters, Christine Reynolds of Gouverneur, Shirley Jones of Dekalb and Rose Fifield of Hermon. He is predeceased by a son, Jonathan Matice who passed away in 1975; three brothers, Don Aldridge, Allan Aldridge and Webb Matice Jr.; and two sisters, Norma Dusharm and Sue Dashnaw. Calling hours will be on Monday, April 13, 2015 from 1-3 and 6-8pm at French Funeral Home, Gouverneur. The funeral service will be on Tuesday, April 14th at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Shane Ryan of the Watertown Assembly of God Church officiating. Burial will follow at Hailesboro Cemetery. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.
