Obituary of Patrick R. O'Riley

GOUVERNEUR- Patrick R. O'Riley, age 74, of Gouverneur, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at the Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown. Calling hours for Patrick will be on Friday, January 8, 2016 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at French Funeral Home, Gouverneur with his memorial service immediately following at 2:00 p.m with Rev. Beth Benham officiating. There will be no burial at this time. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com. Patrick was born on June 5, 1941 in Los Angeles, CA to the late Thomas and Jane E. (Latta) O'Riley. He attended school in California and then Gouverneur, NY. He married Alta M. Kinney on July 19, 1997. Patrick started out working on his uncles' farm and then he and his father worked on Silos together. He also worked on Richard and Susie VanOrnum's farm before going to work at New York Air Brake, where he worked for 25 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Alta; three daughters and their spouses, Patricia and David Jones of Watertown, Cora and Michael Worden of Gouverneur and Brandy and Mark Snyder of Watertown; a son and his wife, Michael and Kristy O'Riley of Gouverneur; a step daughter, Elaine Blanchard of Gouverneur; two step sons, David Petrie and Michael Petrie and his companion Sara Tyndall all of Gouverneur; a brother, David Stamper of Richville; two sisters, Norma Turner of Rochester and Linda Brown of Richville; 20 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Patrick is predeceased by three grandchildren, Chance, Justin and Chelsea Worden. Donations may be made in Patrick's memory to his wife Alta O'Riley at 40680 Co. Rt. 26, Gouverneur, NY 13642 to go towards a memorial bench they are having made to be put at a campground in his memory.
