Obituary of Donald Pomerville

NEWTON FALLS- Donald Pomerville, age 85, of Newton Falls, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2016 at the Clifton-Fine Hospital in Star Lake. Calling hours for Don will be on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at French Family Funeral Home in Star Lake. His funeral mass will be on Thursday, April 7th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Hubert's Catholic Church. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com. Don was born on March 24, 1931 in Newton Falls to the late Edward and Ada (Lane) Pomerville. He went to grammar school in Newton Falls and graduated from the Oswegatchie High School. A marriage to Shirley Cote ended in divorce. Don married Patricia Guiles in July of 1987. Don was a maintenance worker for the Newton Falls Paper Mill for just over 40 years. He enjoyed being outdoors, having cook-outs, and going to camp. He loved fishing, hunting, bowling, and playing pool and shuffleboard. Don was an athletic man who played softball and hockey. He was a former member of the Newton Falls Fire Department where he would compete in squad car races, and was a member of the Newton Falls Rod and Gun Club. Don is survived by his wife, Patricia; sons, Donald and Rosie Pomerville, Timothy and Beth Pomerville; his daughter, Julie and Ricardo Werthmann; step-daughter, Kim and Darrell Cooper; step-son, Daniel and Penny Drake; step-daughter-in-law, Cindy Drake; and sisters, Ida Bisnett and Mary Dooley. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren (with one more on the way), nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a daughter at birth, Suzanne Pomerville; brothers, Edward and James Pomerville; step-son, Edward Drake; and a grandson, Michael Boshane.
