Obituary of David P. Terry

OSWEGATCHIE – David P. Terry, age 68, of Oswegatchie, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2016 at his home. Arrangements with French Family Funeral Home in Star Lake are private. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com. David was born on July 22, 1948 in Gouverneur to the late Horace A. and Kathleen Faye (Ward) Terry. He graduated from the Clifton-Fine Central School in 1966 and married Marcia L. Weaver on November 30, 1968. Marcia passed away on November 9, 2015. David had worked on various construction projects before working for the Newton Falls Paper Mill for many years. When the paper mill shut down he started his own trucking business, Terry's Hauling, and worked on the windmill project on Fort Drum. He and Marcia also owned and operated Terry's Variety Shop in Oswegatchie for many years. David was a hard worker, a devoted father and loving Papa. He was a very generous man who enjoyed plowing snow, riding his Harley Davidson, watching old Westerns, and was an avid hunter. He is survived by two sons, Mike and Wendy Terry of Fine, Jay Terry of Madrid; his daughter, Tina and Timothy Frank of Theresa; and two brothers, Marvin Terry of Star Lake and Gerald Terry of Jordon. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Makayla, Bianca and Shane Terry, and William and Eric Frank; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents; his wife, Marcia; and a grandson, Jake Terry. Donations in memory of David may be made to the Star Lake Fire and Rescue Department or the NY Troopers' Association.
