Obituary of Joseph F. Leroux

WINDFALL/CRANBERRY LAKE: Joseph Francis Leroux, age 85, of Windfall, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at the Clifton-Fine Hospital.
Calling hours will be held at French Family Funeral Home in Star Lake on Saturday, December 10, 2016 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. There will be no funeral service. Burial with military honors will be held in the spring in the St. Hubert's Cemetery.
Joseph was born on October 4, 1931 in Saranac Lake to the late Joseph and Gertrude (Boula) Leroux. He attended schools in Saranac Lake, Tupper Lake and Newton Falls. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict with the Combat Engineers from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1954.
Joe married Elaine Studer of East Martinsburg on October 9, 1954. He worked for the Newton Falls Paper Company for 47 years before retiring as the switchboard operator in October of 1993.
In his free time, Joe enjoyed hunting, doing carpentry work, telling stories, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
His survivors include his wife, Elaine; four children, Vicki and Douglas Hirschey, John and Debra Leroux, Andy and Sarah Leroux and Linda and Steve Sharrow. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren.
Joe is predeceased by his parents; his sister, Eleanor Gebo; his brother, Rudolph Leroux; and a step grandchild.
