Obituary of Geneva A. Austin

Geneva A. Austin, age 83, of Fine, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2017. There will be a joint graveside service for Geneva and Art held in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Clare on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements are with French Funeral Home in Edwards. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com. Geneva was born on February 11, 1934 in Oswegatchie to the late James Hubbard, Sr. and Ethel (Ward) Hubbard. She attended the Oswegatchie School and married Arthur A. Austin on October 28, 1951 at Geneva's parents' home officiated by Rev. Frank Kelly. Art passed away on June 19, 2012. Geneva loved working in her flower garden and enjoyed playing Bingo, painting, card games, and working on puzzles. In recent months Geneva enjoyed crocheting cat mats for adoption to donate to Friends 4 Pound Paws. Her survivors include her daughter, Geneva "Tiny" Blackburn; a son and his wife, Alfred "Hap" and Jolene Austin; a brother, Elisha Hubbard; a sister, Eva Kerr; 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Art; a brother, James Hubbard, Jr.; and sisters, Emily Dowling, Goldie Folsom, and another brother and two sisters who died in infancy; and grandchildren, Sherry "Missy" Lynn Cook and Gary B.
