Obituary of Robert V. Provost

OSWEGATCHIE – Robert V. Provost, age 73, of Oswegatchie, passed away on February 21, 2018 at home under the care of his family and hospice. Calling hours will be held at French Family Funeral Home in Star Lake on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with his funeral service following at 1:00 p.m. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com. Robert was born on July 18, 1944 in Newton Falls to the late Raymond and Kathleen (Hiscock) Provost. He attended the Clifton-Fine Central School and married Patricia A. Akey on October 16, 1965. Mr. Provost worked as a maintenance worker for the Newton Falls Paper Mill for 38 years before his retirement in 2000. He was a true family man who loved to hunt, ride his 4-wheeler, and work in his yard and garden. In retirement, Robert liked to tinker and build things and keep an eye on his neighbor's property; He wasn't too shy to ask people what they may be doing there. Robert enjoyed feeding the wildlife and watching the deer in his yard. He also helped start the Newton Falls Rod and Gun Club. His survivors include his wife, Patricia; son, Jamie Provost and his wife, Kimberly; daughter, Bridgett Hitchman and her husband, Richard; a brother, Frederick Provost; 5 grandchildren, Jacob, Morgan, Becka, Hunter and Ally; 2 great-grandchildren, Bryhar and Gracie; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by 4 brothers, Raymond, Douglas, Gerald and Walter.
