Obituary of Joanna Sawyer

TAMPA, FL-Joanna Sawyer, age 70, of Aiken, South Carolina, peacefully passed away at her daughter's home in Tampa on July 8, 2018. A graveside committal will be organized by French Funeral Home, Edwards and will take place at the South Russell Cemetery at a later time. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com. In keeping with the wishes of Joanna there will be no funeral service. Joanna was born on June 17,1948 in Ironton, OH to Lewis and Loretta (Fletcher) Sizemore. She attended Langley Bath Clearwater High School and moved to Upstate New York where she married her husband Rodney Lee Sawyer. After marriage, they began a family. Together they have raised four children; Rhonda (John) Leslie of Tampa, FL, Rhoda Leigh Bowlin of Jupiter, FL, Rodney Sawyer II of Windsor, SC and Johanna Sawyer of Aiken, SC. She has eleven grandchildren, Phillip and Victoria Leslie, Ashlea Bowlin, Richard and Jacob Dibble, Jennah and Emmah Sawyer, Alexis, James and Jason Emrich, Dominic Winum, and one great grandson, Blake Richardson Jr. She is survived by her half sister Connie DeJong, who lives in South Carolina. Joanna is predeceased by her husband, Rodney Lee Sawyer (2016) and infant son (1965) whom are both buried in the South Russell Cemetery. Joanna loved her work as a typist for St. Lawrence County. She also enjoyed her family, friends and home in Aiken, South Carolina. Her dog, Sage was a faithful companion to the end. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to a local animal shelter on Joanna's behalf.
