Obituary of Glenford James Wood

LISBON - Glenford J. Wood passed away on Thursday, February 28th, 2019; with is family by his side at the age of 100 at Massena Memorial Hospital, Massena, NY. He was born in Dickinson Center, NY on July 25th, 1918 to the late Arthur and Angeline (Snyder) Wood.
Mr. Wood is survived by his sister Eunice Greenwood of Morrisville, NY, his children Lyle Wood of Chandler, AZ, Linda Allen and Nancy Wood both of Canton, NY, and by his grandchildren LJ Wood of Statham GA, Jimmie and Jill Allen of Rochester, NY, Dane Ames of Morley, NY, Kelly and James Trathen Jr. of DePeyster, NY, Melissa and Jeffrey Burcume of Potsdam, NY and Devin and Corie Ames of Canon City, CO as well as numerous great grandchildren and great- great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Clarence, Francis, John and Lyle Wood and 4 sisters Hazel Meacham, Bernice Yaddow, Beulah Wood, and Elizabeth Clookey.
Glenford married Geneva Hope Fountain on September 7th,1945 after meeting during their employment at Alcoa, Massena, NY. Together they owned and operated a country store in East Dickinson as well as four dairy farms located in Burke, Moira, Canton and Lisbon. Following retirement they moved to Chandler, AZ. Mr. Wood was a member of the Canton and Chandler Seventh Day Adventist Churches and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Memorial service for family and friends will be held Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 3:00 pm at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 52 Court Street, Canton. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.
