Obituary of Charles W. Day

GOUVERNEUR- Charles W. Day, age 66, of Gouverneur, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2019 at his home. There will be calling hours for Charles on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at the Gouverneur Community Center with a Memorial service immediately following at 5:00 p.m. Arrangements are with French Funeral Home, Gouverneur. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com. He was born on December 15, 1952 in Gouverneur, NY to the late Carroll and Clara (Perrigo) Day. He graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1971. On April 7, 1973, Charles married the love of his life, Debra Ann Hubbard, whom he called Stella. The couple resides on the Farm to Market Road. Charles worked at International Talc, New York Air Brake and at Gouverneur Talc for 25 years. He was also in the Army Reserves. He enjoyed going to the Silver Leaf Diner, eating his peppermint candies and bowling, where he was secretary of the Gouverneur Bowling Association. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and all of their family pets they had over the years, but most importantly spending time with his soul mate, Stella. He is survived by his wife of 46 years; three daughters, Katrina and Andrew Cook of Gouverneur, Melissa and her companion Greg Guin of Virginia and Stacy and Michael Varre of Syracuse; a son, Ryan and Danielle Day of Virginia; five grandchildren, Jenneca and Hailey Cook, Cormick Day and Michael and Lilly Varre; a brother, Carl and Alane Day of Dekalb; a sister, Charlotte and Larry Atkinson of Harrisville and several nieces and nephews. Charles is predeceased by his parents and twin infant sons. The family would like to thank Dr. Jaitly and the staff at the Agerwal Renal Center.
