Obituary of Joan C. Maxwell

HARRISVILLE- As the sun was shining brightly on September 19, 2019, Joan C. Maxwell slipped peacefully from her home in Harrisville to take her place in Heaven. Joan was born on June 5, 1936 in Long Lake, NY to the late John and Florence (Burke) Cassidy. She lived all of her adult life in the Star Lake and Harrisville areas. She considered her greatest achievements in life to be her family, whom she loved dearly. She loved sunny days, horseback riding, hiking, dancing, country music, her pets and ice cream. She is survived by her soul mate, John Bancroft; son Kenneth (Ashley) Maxwell of Potsdam; daughter, Paula Maxwell of Harrisonburg, VA; grandchildren, Eryn and Landon Maxwell of Potsdam; stepmother, Alaide Cassidy of Waddington; sister-in-law Carol Cassidy of Wanakena; and her beloved dog, Spirit. Joan is predeceased by her husband, Ralph Maxwell; two daughters, Monica Moran and Stephanie Maxwell; her sister Eileen Varden; and her brother Charles ("Chuck") Cassidy. To honor Joan's wishes, there will be no public service. The family asks that you consider sharing some ice cream with a loved one or participating in one of Joan's favorite activities as a tribute to her.
