Obituary of Elsie J. Tyler

GOUVERNEUR - Elsie J. Tyler, age 85, of Roanoke, VA and formerly of Gouverneur, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at the Salam VA Medical Center in Virginia. There will be a calling hour at French Funeral Home, Gouverneur on Monday, March 4, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. with her funeral service immediately following at 12:00 p.m. officiated by Rev. Beth Benham. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Gouverneur. Elsie was born on October 6, 1927 in Gouverneur to the late Leon Raymond and Thelma V. (Smith) Brown. She attended school in Gouverneur and served in the U.S. Army from 1960 until her honorable discharge from the Reserves in 1966. Elsie married Kenneth Tyler. The marriage ended in divorce. Mrs. Tyler moved to Roanoke, Virginia in 1965 and worked as an assistant manager of the Roanoke Cafeteria and later became a veterinarian assistant for Dr. Charles Harris. Elsie is survived by her many friends, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents; her sister, Ruth A. Mullen; and her brother, Russell D. Brown.
