RUSSELL/GOUVERNEUR – Jean R. Church, age 78, of Gouverneur and formerly of Russell, passed away on November 9, 2019 at home under the care of her daughter and hospice. Respecting her wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Arrangements are entrusted to French Funeral Home in Gouverneur. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com. Donations in Jean's memory may be made to Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley, 6805 US Hwy 11, Potsdam NY 13676. Jean was born in Gouverneur on September 16, 1941 to the late Edward and Blanch (Besaw) LaTray. A marriage to Robert Church, Sr. ended in divorce. Jean was a homemaker, took care of her granddaughter and had worked as a clerk at K-Mart in Ogdensburg. She enjoyed working on crafts, knitting, and collecting eagles and tigers. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Hendricks; her son, Robert Church, Jr.; her significant other, Loren Hale; a brother, Ernest LaTray; sisters, Shirley Peck and Gladys White; her granddaughter, Nicole Hendricks and her husband, Garek Colson; and her nieces and nephews. Jean is predeceased by her parents; a brother, Raymond LaTray, and a son-in-law, Ricky Hendricks.
