FINE - James "Jim" M. Davenport, age 67, of Fine, passed away on June 5, 2013 at the Fletcher-Allen Hospital in Burlington, VT.
Calling hours will be at French Funeral Home, Edwards on Friday, June 7, 2013 from 2 - 4 p.m. followed by his funeral service at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Beth Benham officiating. There will be a reception held at the Fine Fire Hall after the funeral service. Condolences may be made online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.
Jim was born on November 21, 1945 in Russell to Marion L. (Durham) Davenport who survived him and the late Charles M. Davenport. He married Janet M. Hodgkiss on July 24, 1965 at the Fine Methodist Church. Janet passed away on June 4, 2003.
Jim was a self employed construction worker, operating J.M.D. Contracting for many years. He was a former member of the Fine Fire Department and he and his family were caretakers of the Woodland Cemetery in Fine for years. Jim enjoyed metal detecting, bottle digging and antique collecting. He also loved to dance, and go hunting, fishing, and trapping.
His survivors include his mother, Marion L. Davenport of Fine; his companion, Tina Holmes of Canton; two daughters, JoAnne M. Moore of Memphis, NY, Joy M. and Scott Buckingham of New Bremen; a son, Jonathan M. Davenport of Gouverneur; and five grandchildren, Jacklynn M. Durham, Justina M. Davenport, Samantha A. Moore, Diamond K. Reynolds, and Chance J.M. Buckingham. He is also survived by two brothers, Charles "Jack" Davenport, Jr. of Fine, Michael Davenport of Fine; two sisters, Erlene Kerr of Oswegatchie and Macel Dusharm of Harrisville; and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his father, Charles Davenport; his wife, Janet Davenport; a son, James M. Davenport; and a brother, Ronald Davenport, Sr.
