I want to send my condolences to Dick’s family. I was so sad when I heard that he had passed. I would like to take this opportunity to share my thoughts about Dick and a couple of memories with his family.
When I first started working at the mill I was scared of your Dad. He was gruff and “yelled” a lot. But when I realized it was all a façade, I found him to be the biggest Teddy Bear. He made work a fun place to be and was always good for a water hose prank!!
One of my memories that touched me the most was when I had my son, the first flowers I got in the hospital were from your Mom and Dad. It made me feel special that they thought of me.
My other favorite memory was after Dick retired from the mill, I used to call him every spring to see if the fish were running. He asked me why I always called him and I said because I knew he would know b/c he would have already gotten his share of walleye.
I really enjoyed working with your Dad and I not only considered him a mentor, but a friend. RIP Dick and know that when I get to Heaven I will look you up to bug you up there as well.
