Obituary of Richard J. Davidson

HAMMOND- Richard J. "Dick" Davidson, age 82, of Hammond, NY passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023 at River Hospital in Alexandria Bay. In keeping with Dick's wishes, there will be no calling hours. Services will be private for the family at a later date. Arrangements are with French Funeral Home, Gouverneur. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com. Richard was born on January 7, 1941 in Theresa, NY to the late Roy and Lois (Thayer) Davidson. On August 24, 1963, he married Marguerite L. Hutton at the Rossie Presbyterian Church. Marguerite passed away on August 8, 2019. Dick worked for Groveton Paper Mill in Natural Dam for over 43 years. He and his wife Marguerite also ran the D & M Country Store in Rossie for many years. Dick enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving is a son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Kimberly Davidson; a daughter and son-in-law, Shelly and Marty Youngs; three brothers and their spouses, Roy "Sonny" and Karen Davidson, John "Jack" and Valerie Davidson and Rodney and Carol Davidson; a sister-in-law, Marie Hutton; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Dick is predeceased by his parents, Roy and Lois; his mother and father-in-law, Ai and Betty Hutton; three brothers, Robert, Ronald and Glen Davidson; a sister, Ruth Briggs and a brother-in-law, Dale Hutton. Donations may be made in Dick's memory to St. Jude Hospital or to a Hospice of one's choice.
