GOUVERNEUR – Francis Walter Kolbe, Sr., age 77, of Gouverneur, passed away on November 24, 2015 at his home.

Francis was born on March 7, 1938 in Mitchellville, MD to the late John Weller Kolbe and Margaret Virginia (Sturgess) Kolbe. He married Margaret Lucille Windsor on June 15, 1956.
Francis worked in Morganza, Maryland hauling cattle, working the cattle sale barn, and operating his own beef cattle farm. Francis and Margaret moved to Gouverneur 20 years ago and have enjoyed owning and operating the Rocky Ridge Farm on the Morrison Road.
Francis is survived by his wife of 59 years, Margaret Kolbe; five sons and a daughter, Francis Walter Kolbe, Jr., Joseph Glenn Kolbe and his wife, Patricia, James Everett Kolbe and his wife, Maria "Genie", John Paul Kolbe and his wife, Linda, Ralph Daniel Kolbe, and twin, Margaret Lucille Duran. Mr. and Mrs. Kolbe raised one granddaughter, Joanna Sergel. He is also survived by his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Francis is predeceased by his parents; a son, Robert Michael Kolbe; and all of his siblings.
