CRANBERRY LAKE, NY/PORTLAND, OR – Jerry Paul Benchik, age 44, of Portland, OR, passed away suddenly on June 16, 2016. Jerry was born on May 8, 1972 in Rochester, NY and has lived in Portland for over 20 years.
Jerry worked in surveying since graduating with a BS degree from Alfred State College. He was most recently employed at Ferguson Land Surveying. Jerry loved the outdoors, especially hiking, camping, and boating. His passion was his music. Jerry was a guitar player since his teenage years. He made many friends playing in bands in the Portland area.
Jerry is survived by his parents, Steve and Sue Benchik, his sister Becky Benchik-Watson and her husband, 2 nephews, his extended family and many, many friends.
Jerry has been described as the original "shirt off your back" kind of guy. He was a caring, loving guy who would do anything for anybody.
There will be a graveside service in the Cranberry Lake Cemetery on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements are with French Family Funeral Home, Star Lake. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.
